Cost and Management Accountant
My client a Galway based multinational, pharmaceutical business seeking to hire a Cost and Management Accountant with Business Support to join their finance team. This is a permanent role which will adopt a hybrid model after an initial setting in period.
This role requires a blend of financial acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across various levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement, and capable of working in a dynamic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Responsibilities:
· Provide support and mentoring to the team.
· Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
· Set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to cost management and inventory.
· Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with team members to provide guidance and feedback.
· Support the budgeting process by providing cost-related insights and data.
· Coordinate annual audits to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
Commercial and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) Support:
· Conduct costings, analysis, and provide ad hoc reporting to support commercial decisions and strategic planning.
· Provide pipeline support by preparing preliminary costings for new projects and molecules.
· Develop costings for contract and third-party manufacturing, providing guidance and advice to stakeholders.
Standard Costing Accuracy and Rebuild:
· Monitor, review, and challenge changes or movements in cost drivers.
· Perform periodic full standard cost rebuilds.
· Conduct interim standard cost rebuilds as needed due to specific changes such as new products, process improvements, or equipment upgrades.
· Calculate direct labour and overhead rates.
· Review and allocate overhead costs, evaluating the methodology used.
· Analyse actual labour and overhead costs against standard rates and assess recovery rates.
Inventory Reporting and Management:
· Assist the team in reporting and managing work-in-progress (WIP) and finished manufacturing product inventory.
· Identify and address stock aging issues, driving process improvements where necessary.
· Monitor movements in material supplier pricing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree and accounting or finance experience.
· Qualified ACA/CPA, CIMA or ACCA with post qualification experience. - 5+ years PQE
· Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected. circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations.
· Works collaboratively, respects individuals and cultures.
· Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
