Plant Microbiologist/ QC Microbiology Manager 

For a Multi-national Pharmaceutical Company located in Newbridge. 

This role is expected to be the site Microbiological SME, providing support, guidance and technical expertise on the Site Environmental Monitoring (EM) and Water monitoring programs as well as supporting site Microbiological Investigations.

In the capacity of Laboratory Manager, through coaching, mentoring and leadership, this role will also support the Microbiology Laboratory, which consists of a team of 8 colleagues. This team is responsible for finished product, raw material, water testing and Environmental Monitoring.  This high performing team works with a high degree of autonomy and is highly advanced in lab scheduling, Standard Work and Visual Management, incorporating the use of KPI’s. The QC Manager (Microbiology) will be the direct Manager for this team.


The incumbent will also be expected to facilitate the Site Microbiology Steering Committee, which entails investigation root cause analysis as well as proactive Risk Assessments and improvement opportunities for controls on existing and new products with respect to facility controls, EM and Water programs.


This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, high performing laboratory leadership team within the Quality department, with responsibilities and visibility at a Site level in the capacity of Plant Microbiology SME. Key partners with the role are the Plant Engineering and Operations Leads, with respect to supporting critical utilities, EM and product release.


Education and experience required:

  • 7 years Pharmaceutical QC experience, including several years at Supervisory level
  • University or College Degree from a recognised institution in a Science discipline
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a technical team.
