Financial Accountant 

Financial Control accountants handle the core accounting responsibilities for the Group. As a member of this team, you will know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and you'll prepare, review, analyse, and interpret financial results and reporting. Key Accountabilities of Accountants across Financial control:

  • Drive continuous improvement across Financial Control with a view to improving, automating and eliminating manual adjustments
  • Partner with external auditors on timeframes, progress and audit queries
  • Act as a role model in accordance with the declared brand values. Work as part of a small dynamic team to maximise potential and deliver high performance
  • Responsible for controls that are within remit of the relevant role, ensuring that operational risk is minimised
  • Keep updated on new accounting and regulatory rules and disclosures and their implications on management, financial and regulatory reporting
  • Participate in projects and initiatives to optimise and streamline processes and deliver efficiencies for reporting
  • Ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained and that both internal and external customer requirements are addressed to the highest standards and within agreed timelines

We have the following opportunities available:

Regulatory Reporting Role Accountabilities
Responsible for the reporting of relevant Regulatory Statistical returns, ensuring their changing requirements are taken into account through proactively engaging with both internal and external customers
Responsibility to ensure all returns to the Central Bank of Ireland, Bank of England and ECB are completed on time and to the highest standard, including variance analysis and explanation of material variances
Ensuring all relevant controls are in place & adhered to for all returns

Financial Accounting Role Accountabilities
Preparation of monthly Financial accounts for legal entities and/or banking licenses as part of monthly financial close within tight timelines, including monthly analytical review on Balance Sheet and P&L
Responsibility for the preparation of annual and half yearly disclosures for Group published accounts
Responsible for review and preparation of information for input into quarterly Finrep
Supporting the analysis and supply of financial information in support of requests from regulatory agencies and Finance teams
Responsible for accounting for products/transactions on core system or reporting from downstream feeds, including carrying out of appropriate controls and reconciliations to substantiate financial accounts

Ideal Candidate

  • Recent Qualified Accountancy qualification ideally with 1-3 years PQE
  • Knowledge and experience in regulatory reporting, or in the preparation or audit of financial accounts for financial services is desirable but not essential
  • Technical accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Proven capacity to meet challenging targets
  • Experience of interpreting and interrogating vast volumes of data is desirable but not essential
  • Good understanding of accounting / disclosure / regulatory reporting requirements

Please note: The Minimum Education requirements for entry to the bank is 5 passes in the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), to include a pass in English and Maths. These must be achieved at either Ordinary or Honours Level. Confirmation of this will be sought if successful for the role.
